Giclee fine art print of my original illustration of a plague doctor, digitally colored. Available in a variety of sizes.
To help ward off airborne pathogens, plague doctors would wear what was essentially a proto bio-hazard suit that consisted of a wide-brimmed hat, a long overcoat made of a thick fabric material that was waxed, thick gloves, boots and a bird-like mask that served as a respirator. Aromatic herbs were kept in the beak cavity to help ward off the stench of death and decay. A cane would be carried around as an instrument to examine patients to avoid directly touching them as well as keeping other people at bay.
Printed on MOAB Legion velvet (matte) finish paper, using archival-quality inks in my little studio in State College, Pennsylvania. Each print is signed, titled and numbered, and will be shipped in moisture-resistant packaging. Watermark will NOT be on the actual print.
